Ehsaas Program Free 14000 RS

The government will provide a grant of Rs 14,000 to 12 million deserving families

Dr Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Security, said that the federal government would provide a cash grant of Rs 14,000 to 12 million deserving families under the Ehsas Emergency Cash Program.

Speaking on a Radio Pakistan program, he asked deserving people to send their CNIC number 8171 to get the grant. He said the cash grant was aimed at helping deserving families, especially the daily wage earners, when economic activities in the country were halted due to the spread of the corona virus. He said 12 million families would benefit from the program.

Regarding the identification of eligible families, Dr. Sania Nishtar said that any application for a cash grant has to go through a data analysis process to find out whether the applicant is a deserving person or not. He said that NADRA data also provides great help in this regard. He said that there could be three types of replies to SMS for cash grant. First you are eligible, second contact the relevant district administration, and finally you are not eligible. “If you or your spouse are a government employee, you are not eligible for a cash grant. You pay for a six-month trip abroad, your car, and a monthly phone bill of Rs 1,000,” he said.

He said some may get an answer by contacting their respective district administrations. He said that lists of deserving persons were being prepared at the offices of Assistant Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners at the local level. “After a thorough check, we will get these lists through a web portal,” he said. “By Monday, all eligible families will receive a message that they can get a cash grant from a specific place,” he said.

In response to a question, the Special Assistant said that if we receive more than 12 million responses from deserving families, a proposal would be submitted to the Cabinet to increase the amount allocated for the cash grant.

He said that Pakistan usually has an average of seven people in a family and 12 million families means that the government is going to provide assistance to more than eighty million people across the country. “It is a big challenge for us to transfer this money to deserving families in a transparent and fair manner,” he said.

He said that the eligible families should ensure that they are receiving the full amount of Rs. 14,000 from the point mentioned in the SMS, which includes Includes designated points for e-service centers. “If anyone refuses to pay in full, the police and our helpline should be notified immediately,” he said.

He said that the deserving families would get their money from there after marking their thumbprints. He clarified that if a woman receives an SMS, she will have to pay and a similar course will be followed in the case of a male applicant.

Answering another question, Dr. Sania Nishtar said that we are demanding from the provincial authorities that points like EasyPay Shops should be kept open during the lockdown for the convenience of the poor.

He said that these points have also been identified as providing essential services. He also urged the recipients of the cash grant to spend the money wisely and buy daily necessities according to their needs instead of going shopping.

He assured that there would be no shortage of food and other daily necessities. “We are making sure that there is no interruption in the transportation of goods for the availability of essential items to the people,” said Sania Nishtar. Deserving families will be able to receive cash grants from next Wednesday, he said.

He also clarified that every deserving Pakistani family, irrespective of caste, creed, religion or ethnicity, can get help under Ehsas Emergency Cash Scheme by taking its CNIC number and sending an SMS to 8171. Entitled Urged people to refrain from sending these SMS, if after self-diagnosis, they feel that they have enough resources for three months.

Responding to a question, he said that the decision to extend the partial lockdown to 14th of this month has been taken to prevent the spread of Corona virus.

Responding to a caller from Islamabad, Dr. Sania Nishtar said that if a person receives that he is not eligible for a cash grant, he can access the Facebook page of Ehsas Program and provide his details under the ration scheme. Can keep from where he will be given accommodation.

Replying to another caller from Azad Kashmir, Sania Nishtar said that our system is facing congestion as millions of SMS are being processed and there may be some delay in receiving the reply.
